Energy Optimisation Coach, Speaker, Founder of The Health Concierge and Restauranteur is passionate about Wellbeing. Here's what she says:

"This isn’t about productivity. It’s about presence. It’s a chance to step away from the noise and tune in to what truly matters.

I’ve seen first hand the transformative power of nurturing meaningful connections." Elika combines science sound HR practice to work with her clients:-

1. SOCIAL CONNECTION AND EVOLUTIONARY BIOLOGY:

From an evolutionary standpoint, humans are inherently social beings. Our ancestors relied on strong social bonds for survival, forming tribes and communities to share resources, provide protection, and support each other. This need for social connection is deeply ingrained in our biology, with studies showing that positive relationships trigger the release of oxytocin, a hormone that promotes feelings of trust, bonding, and well-being.

2. STRESS REDUCTION AND EMOTIONAL SUPPORT:

In today’s hectic world, stress has become a prevalent health concern. However, having strong relationships can serve as a buffer against stress, providing emotional support, understanding, and empathy during challenging times. Research has shown that people with robust social networks are better equipped to cope with stressors, leading to lower cortisol levels and reduced inflammation in the body.

3. MENTAL HEALTH AND EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING

Loneliness and social isolation are significant risk factors for mental health disorders such as depression and anxiety. Conversely, meaningful relationships can promote positive mental health by fostering a sense of belonging, purpose, and connection. Regular social interaction stimulates the brain’s reward system, leading to increased feelings of happiness and fulfillment.

4. PHYSICAL HEALTH AND LONGEVITY

Numerous studies have highlighted the link between strong social ties and better physical health outcomes. People with supportive relationships tend to have lower rates of chronic diseases, improved immune function, and even increased longevity. The emotional support provided by friends, family, or a partner can positively impact cardiovascular health, blood pressure, and overall resilience to illness.

5. ACCOUNTABILITY AND HEALTHY HABITS

When you’re part of a supportive social network, you’re more likely to adopt and maintain healthy habits. Whether it’s exercising with a friend, cooking nutritious meals together, or receiving encouragement from loved ones, accountability within relationships can promote positive lifestyle changes. Having someone to share your goals and progress with can increase motivation and commitment to self-care practices.

6. COGNITIVE FUNCTION AND BRAIN HEALTH

Engaging in meaningful conversations, intellectual discussions, and social activities can stimulate cognitive function and keep the brain sharp. Regular social interaction has been associated with a reduced risk of cognitive decline and dementia in older adults. By staying socially connected, you can preserve cognitive abilities and maintain mental agility as you age.

7. QUALITY OF LIFE AND HAPPINESS

Ultimately, the quality of our relationships plays a significant role in our overall quality of life and happiness. Particularly highlighted in the blue zones studies. Feeling connected to others, experiencing love and companionship, and having a support system in place are essential components of human well-being. Investing in meaningful relationships can lead to greater life satisfaction, fulfilment, and a sense of purpose.

In conclusion, prioritising relationships is not just a matter of social convenience; it’s essential for our physical, mental, and emotional health. I encourage my clients to cultivate and nurture meaningful connections as part of their journey towards energy optimisation and holistic well-being. By fostering strong relationships, we can create a foundation of support, resilience, and vitality that enhances every aspect of our lives.
