MoHRE Holds Bilateral Meetings

His Excellency Dr Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, held bilateral meetings with His Excellency Imran Ahmed, Minister of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment of Bangladesh, and His Excellency Sajid Hussain Turi, Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, during the World Government Summit (WGS).

Meanwhile, Her Excellency Shayma Al Awadhi, Acting Assistant Under-Secretary for Communication and International Relations at the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), met with Ngoya Gia Liam, Deputy Director General of the Department of Overseas Workers at the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs in Vietnam.

His Excellency Dr Al Awar welcomed the guests to the Summit, which is being organised this year under the theme ‘Shaping Future Governments,’ stressing that “The UAE is always keen to develop its relations with various countries on the basis of respect and mutual understanding to guarantee the rights of all workers in the UAE who are coming from all around the world, based on human values that govern its foreign and domestic policies.”

The meetings discussed ways to enhance cooperation, exchange expertise, and successful experiences in the field of human resource development, develop prospects for cooperation across different fields of work, exchange experiences in policies, programs, and systems used to regulate labour markets, develop skills and expertise of local talents, and attract and retain global talents.

His Excellency Dr Abdulrahman Al Awar and Her Excellency Shayma Al Awadhi reiterated the evolution of UAE’s local business environment, backed by the labour market policy legislations and its impact on improving the attractiveness and competitiveness of the country as a talent hub through support to priority economic sectors.

They reviewed the legislation and laws issued by the Ministry since the beginning of 2022, such as the law regulating labour relations, touched on the wage protection system in the private sector, and the unemployment insurance scheme, which came into force at the beginning of this year, as well as reviewing the inspection systems in place.

During their meetings, they have also explained the nature of the labour market in the UAE and its attractive features for workers, as well as its advantages for employers and investors. They highlighted the efforts of the UAE government to provide more opportunities for talents to work in the UAE, which is witnessing a growth in skilled, unskilled, executive, professional, specialised and supervisory jobs, in accordance with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) classification in all economic sectors. They also expressed confidence in the growth in the UAE’s business sectors in the current year and coming years.
